BODY-MIND CENTERING AND TUNINGS, improvisations
taught by K.J. HOLMES

Four Fridays in February

$18 a class, $70 for the series

Body-Mind Centering (BMC) (tm) is an eclectic and dynamic
approach to somatic training and re-education developed by
Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. These classes will look at the
application of BMC into dancing through investigations into
body systems (skeletal, organ, muscle, nerve, fluid, cells)
and repatterning (developmental/evolution) with an emphasis
based on each of the students' individual interests and
questions. We will learn basic anatomy and physiology,
getting familiar with the interior of our bodies and ideas
and find pathways to the exterior of space, time and place
through improvisational scores that allows us to both
witness and participate.
ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE WELCOME. Info at 212 239-0831

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION COURSE with Michael Fayne Ph.D

Beginning this February, the Panetta Movement Center's
roster will include a course in Mindfulness Meditation and
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Derived from
Buddhist meditation practices, this course offers highly
accessible meditation techniques and related skills,
designed to help cope with stressful life situations. The
instructor, Michael Fayne , Ph.D., is a licensed clinical
psychologist with formal training as a meditation teacher
at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and over
30 years' personal meditation experience.

This meditation program, developed over 25 years ago by the
Center for Mindfulness at the UMass Medical School, has
been shown to be highly beneficial as a companion treatment
for a wide range of medical and psychological issues,
including chronic pain, dermatological problems, anxiety,
depression, overeating, life adjustment issues and the
general gamut of life stressors. It's also a powerful
health-promoting practice for the "well" population,
leading to increased energy, greater stability and clarity
of thought in challenging situations, and a deepened sense
of well-being.

The times/dates are: 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23,
and 3/30, from 6pm to 8 pm, and on Sunday 3/20 from 9:30 to
3:30 pm. The fee for these 9 sessions is $475.

You can register, or get more information about the course,
by calling Dr. Fayne at 212-481-1889, or by e-mailing him
at mcfayne@aol.com.
