Every dancer seeks his own voice and needs time to mature both artistically and humanly.
In his work Weis likes to ask dancers to contribute to create dance-material as much as he likes to create movement with/on them and impose own phrases, and the texture with which it shall be performed.
"In my workshops I like to investigate dance in many ways and forms. It is not reduced to one specific style or technique. I am mostly interested in working on dance material of all sorts and practice technique through dancing directly."
Jean-Guillaume Weis has presented over a dozen evening pieces, and danced in numerous premieres and productions internationally as a dancer and choreographer; including Joachim Schlömer, Mark Morris, Peter Sellers, Pina Bausch Tanztheater, Thomas Duchatelet, Pieter de Ruiter, Béa de Visser, and Niek Kortekaas. He created his own dance company, Guillaume Weis Dance People in 1998 and the non-profit organisation Dance Theatre Luxembourg Asbl in 2002.
