I have spent the last fifteen years transmitting the wealth of information from the "American Postmodern Dance Movement" to a new generation of European dancers. I enjoy teaching in a more intimate environment where I can use my hands to facilitate a personal relationship to specific and practical body information.

The goal of the class will be a clear and functional techinical, as well as philosophical, base using the background of post modern dance and its connected body studies as the source. We will use guided "hands on" explorations to set up a specific topic of body awareness each day...i.e. center spine, ankle joints, etc...deepening it through shared and individual excercises as well as movement material.

Lance Gries was an award winning dancer with the Trisha Brown Company from 1985 - 1992. His solo and group choreography has been presented in various NYC venues as well as in festivals and theaters around the world. He has been on the faculty at PARTS, the international school for contemporary dance in Brussels, Belgium since its inception 10 years ago, and has also been a guest teacher numerous times at London Contemporary Dance, CND in Paris, France, The Lyon Opera Ballet, Frankfurt Conservatory as well as for many European modern dance companies. Mr Gries is considered one of the leading exponents of American postmodern dance.
